    Attention Musicians!
Email Article To a FriendView Printable Version

    Hi all -

I'm not familiar with posting on this website, so I'm hoping this message reaches you all.

This is Jess D'Andreamatteo (Amy's little sister). For whoever is interested, or knows someone who is interested, Nick DiMarino is looking for someone to do the music (piano/teach vocals) for the middle school musical. The job pays between $2,000 - $3,000. They're desperate for someone and are very willing to work around your schedule. Rehearsals start this month.

It's a small cast (I've been told around 15 students) and a really great group of kids. If you, or anyone you know, is or may be interested, I can be reached at JessLikesPit27@aol.com. Please Please Please, if you know anyone who may be interested, let me know!!!!

    Thanks,
    Jess

    Sugahs, mofos & chiaddicts,

It's time to rock the vote in 2004 for the Philly Music Awards. That's right, this is a shameless plug for the band P.T. Lovekraft. In 2003 we were nominated for Best CD. This year, we're up for Best CD for the second year in a row and also Most Creative Presentation - Original Band and Best Original Band. So we're gonna need your help to rock the vote to help us win something this year so everyone can say "who the hell is P.T. Lovekraft?" or even better "WHAT the hell is that?"

Here's the site to cast your winning vote:

Email Article To a FriendView Printable Version

    Attention all PT LoveKraft fan(s),

Here's what we need from our most loyal fans. The time has come to rock the vote and to rock the asses of every mofo in the industry by casting your votes for the 5th Annual Philly Music Awards.

That's right, PT LoveKraft has officially been nominated in the category of best CD, so we'll need your help in voting our sorry selves on stage so people can look at us and say "What the hell is that?" Now you can only vote once per day. Don't worry I was going to try to stuff the ballots myself, but that would be about as fair as our presidential election or one of the polls on Chiaddicts.

So get your asses to the following site and rock the vote:

Johnny Cash still shakin' things up
Email Article To a FriendView Printable Version

Hi all it's sweeny again.  Why am I contributing another story you ask, well to put it simply I am laid off and I am bored.  I was just watching Mtv2 and saw something that got the old hampster churning that wheel in my brain full speed, Johnny Cash covering Trent Reznor's brilliant piece from the 90's, Hurt.  At first I thought this odd and disturbing that an icon from several decades would spend the waning years of his life covering 90's artists to reach a new audience, ala Tony Bennett's doomed attempt to do the same back in the early 90's.  In reality however this was not Mr. Cash's motive at all or so i think.  From watching the video and listening to the lyrics it seemed to me that here is this seventy year old icon trying to make peace with the demons that so often shake the lives of our most beloved performers.  The video is loaded with imagery of Johnny in his younger years breaking the hearts of people he has loved all the while Reznor's crafted lyrics " I will make you hurt, I will let you down"playing like a whisper in the backgroung sung by cash. It really was quite moving to see this legeng of a tough guy and hard case being apologetic. This sentiment brought me to the purpose of this article though.

I am not really sure how many Chi Addicts out there are familiar with Mr. Cash's long long list of songs, I myself have never really been able to pick up on which songs were his in that endless sea of horrible country music untill recently.  My guess is that most of the Chi Addicts With the exception of Chuck and Fagan probably have never made an attempt to listin to his music, maybe for good reason but bear with me on this.  As far as the country music I know Johnny  Cash has been a pretty progressive artist in some of his music.  Why is this important you ask, think of it this way... at some point in our lives our peers have told each and everyone of us that the music we listin to is violent and sends the wrong message to kids.  Ask the average mid 40's to 50's bible beating person from the south and they will tell you that the music from their generation was good and pure, including johnny cash.
